The Chase Project
A year after COVID, Jan Tomlinson decided to do a special project to give back to the community since she and Chase were not able to do their special therapy dog visits during this very difficult year. A stuffed model of her therapy dog, Chase, was created and named “Chase Jr.” She knew that people whom she and Chase often visited but could not, would love him since a Chase Jr. already lived at Sedona Eye Care and everyone loved him.
Her plan was to create many more Chase Jr. and donate them to the hospital for sick children or patients.
Friends and members of the Verde Valley Dog Agility Club sponsored one Chase Jr. for $50 which would pay for the dog and therapy vest. Jan received 14 donations. Those donations for Chase Jr’s were given to the VVMC, The Haven, The Austin House, and Gracious Grannies where club members have done therapy dog visits until COVID hit.
This original project has taken off. Yavapai County Supervisor, District 3, Donna Michaels and Elaine Bremmer, Verde Valley Senior Center for Meals on Wheels, have asked Jan to help coordinate with them to deliver about 300 Chase Jr to homebound seniors along with their Meals on Wheels. They hope to expand this project to Sedona. Camp Verde is also part of this program. What started as a little project to give back after a very difficult year is growing in the local communities!
Thanks to all of you for funding the very first Chase Project and THANK YOU JAN for reaching out to this community to show them many care.
